I’m proud to announce the official launch of Wanderbrief!
Amsterdam (February 4th, 2016) – Wanderbrief, a global community where people exchange their creativity for meaningful work-life experiences abroad, has launched in beta today with two Founding Partners in Amsterdam: Vodafone and Amnesty International the Netherlands.
Wanderbrief was created after Dutch copywriter Mark van der Heijden quit his job to travel the world as ‘The Backpacker Intern’ in 2014, exchanging his creativity for room and board. After two years he returned to Amsterdam and founded Wanderbrief with Valentijn van Santvoort (former Strategy Director HAVAS Boondoggle).
“Wanderbrief is worth watching because it is re-framing the model on how to bring creativity inside an advertiser. Next to that it fits the way millennials would like to work, which is something corporate companies need to start adapting to.” – Eva Zahrawi Ruiz (Head of Brand & Marketing Communications Vodafone Netherlands)
Creativity as currency
When a company is facing a challenge, Wanderbrief creates an assignment and uses their technology to curate top-notch talent. These include copywriters, designers, developers and any other role in the creative industry from their growing international community, including the award-winning creatives from their Global Talent Partner D&AD. In a brief period of time (2-4 weeks) the creative(s) solve problems in exchange for a flight, room, board and some pocket money to explore the city.
“Through Wanderbrief young people who have been part of our New Blood programme have a fantastic opportunity to continue exploring their creativity with a global perspective”- Paul Drake (Foundation Director D&AD)
Above all, Wanderbrief exists to refresh the perspective of creatives and support companies meet their business objectives through collaborative creativity while fostering global citizenship and cultural exchange.
“Wanderbrief uses creativity as a force for good. Our partnership is based on an exchange between their services and our opportunity to make a positive impact in the world of human rights.” – Bart van Kuijk (Director of Fundraising & Marketing at Amnesty International the Netherlands)”
